- there are generally two types of omission in language:
- legal: when the omission is still grammatical
- illegal: when the omission is not grammatical
- leaving out parts of words or phrases
- ex: 「している」 becoming 「してる」
- ex: 「つまらない」 becoming 「つまんない」
- dropping single kana elements attached to nouns (like particles or 「だ」) if the logic of the sentence is still clear
- 「が」, 「を」, and 「は」 are the most commonly dropped particles
- dropping trailing clauses
- every 「丁寧語」 sentence ends with 「です」 or 「ます」
