• 「になる」can be used on clauses
  • ex: 「私が彼を信じるようになった。」 means “I came to believe him. (I went to the state of believing him.)”
• 「にする」 is the other-move version of 「になる」, it means to make something enter a new state
  • ex: 「ドアに鍵をかけるようにしてください。」 means “Do toward the state of using the key to lock the door.”
  • ex: 「毎日歩くようにする。」 means “I make it so that I walk every day.”
• using 「ようにする」 instead of 「ことにする」 leaves some room for doubt
• replacing 「する」 with another verb means use that verb in order to do toward the state
